    Kingsgate Gator Coach Job Description

    Pay range is $5,000 - $15,000 for the season. Compensation: to be discussed with the Gators Board

    The Kingsgate Gators wish to promote swimming proficiency, competitive good will on the team; and foster an environment of friendship and inclusivity. The Gators are a medium-sized swim team located in the Kingsgate V neighborhood of Kirkland. Our team has roughly 125 participants ages 6 to 18. We are part of the Midlakes Swim League. The swim season runs from Mid May through the end of July.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Leads the overall swim team program;
      1. Sets and oversees programs for all coaching staff.
      2. Delegates work appropriately to all coaching staff.
    2. Ensure practices and meets occur in a safe and organized manner.
    3. Supervise swimmers and ensure that swimmers are taught proper competitive swimming technique.
    4. Coordinates and participates in all swim practices, swim meets, and team events (such as pool parties, coaching clinics, and banquets).
    5. Arrange meet lineups using Swimmingly Software. (Creates all meet line-ups. Works with all software to ensure accurate meet entries.)
    6. Represent the Gators Swim Team to Midlakes and to the community in a professional manner.
    7. Communicate timely, effectively, and professionally with swimmers, coaches, and families.
    8. Provides a safe, fun, and productive swim experience for all swimmers regardless of experience.
    9. Attends all required Midlakes meetings and training sessions.
    10. Works to promote and enhance the Kingsgate Gators culture and spirit.
    11. Work mornings, nights and weekends as needed; Coaches must be willing to work outside in all weather conditions for extended periods and be capable of carrying out the duties of a swim coach.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

    1. Knowledge and understanding of competitive swimming.
    2. Knowledge and experience teaching swimming to a variety of abilities and levels.
    3. Candidates must enjoy working with a diverse group of swimmers.
    4. A genuine love of coaching and working with children.
    5. A commitment to the mission of the Midlakes Swim League.
    6. The ability to balance fun, growth, and competitiveness.

      1. American Red Cross Standard First Aid certificate
      2. CPR
      3. SafeSport Training
      4. Either (1) Lifeguard Certification or (2) safety training for swim Coaches;

    Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    1. Familiarity with Hy-tek, Swimtopia, Swimmingly, and any other software used by the team (attending Midlakes training if necessary).
    2. Experience supervising others and working in a team environment.
    3. Self-Motivated and able to work independently without supervision.
    4. Grounded level headed personality in potentially stressful, high energy situations.
    5. Ability to take constructive feedback in a professional manner.

    COMMITMENT

    Practices begin mid-May and range from 5:45-10:00pm. Practices move to mornings late June and range from 5:45-10:00am. Meets are mid-June to late July and are two days a week on Tuesdays & Thursdays. Champs meets will be at the end of July over the course of two weekends.
