Gator Updates & Reminders 6/16
Greetings Gators, as we are settling into the season here are some updates and reminders important to note…
1. Practice Schedule: No Practice June 19th or July 3rd in observance of national holidays. Morning practice starts June 26th. Check the website for times. https://kingsgategators.swimtopia.com/practice-sc...
2. National Anthem: If you are interested in performing the national anthem at our remaining three home meets, please reach out to us.
3. Meet Reminders: You (parents and swimmers) are responsible for getting to your event on time and finding your relay group. Be ready and be early. Turn on notifications on within the SwimminglyFan app if you haven’t already.
4. DECLARE Please: Declaring is your RSVP to the swim meet. Declaring happens on the Swimmingly Clubhouse website (https://clubhouse.swimmingly.app). You are able to change your swimmer’s declaration up until the deadline (Friday before the week’s meets at 9pm). We understand the annoyance and irony of this give the kerfuffle with the 6/20 meet.
A few notes to consider… We really need help from everyone with this. We have been having quite a few families request accommodations after the deadline and are really trying to move away from last minute changes as it makes tremendous work for the coaches and quite frankly isn’t fair to the other swimmers and team. Please help us by declaring on time.
Also, if you declare you are coming to a meet and don’t show up this has larger implications for the entire team and is quite problematic. For example, if your swimmer is put on a relay and doesn’t show up, the entire relay is scratched and the other kids on the relay don’t get to swim. This is really frustrating for coaches, hard on the kids that did show up, and makes the no-shows visible to the rest of the team. Please keep in mind relays are often a highlight for swimmers, thus no-shows have a big impact on the overall culture of the team.
5. Practice Attendance: Please attend practices. We are seeing low attendance at practice and wanted to remind everyone it is important and part of what you signed up for. Regular attendance helps the team succeed and foster a positive culture. It is unfortunate we are having to relay this message.
6. Additional Help? If your swimmer is looking for additional help, the KG5 pool offers swim lessons. https://www.kingsgate5.com/pool/
7. Division Champs: Save the date July 15th. The location will be the Royals pool (Kingsgate 1/2). The time is still TBD (either a morning or mid-afternoon meet). We will share more information as it becomes available. Division champs is when all six teams in our division compete together. Swimmers with A times are not eligible to compete, thus offering more chances for all swimmers to compete and succeed. Please attend if you can. It is a lot of fun and a great way to end the season with a positive experience for the majority of our team.
Please reach out with questions or feedback. Go Gators!
