    Gators 2025 – Team Email 6/13

    (1) Swim Meets 6/17 & 6/19: Next week is our first regular season meets, and might be tricky as most swimmers are still in school. We know it is a lot and just know we are all in the same boat together running on little sleep, take-out dinners, overcommitments, and the joy of summer swim league. Hang in there. Summer is almost here and school is almost done! Declarations for next week are due at 8pm tonight.

Tuesday, 6/17: For our intrasquad meet, please arrive at 6:05pm. You may set up on the pool deck. The schedule will be as follows:

    10U Warmups: 6:15pm

    11+ Warmups: 6:25pm

    Team Meeting: 6:35pm

    Meet Starts: 6:45pm

    Meet Ends: 9:45pm

This meet will run like a regular meet on a condensed schedule as we only have one team competing and is intended to be more of a time trial/dress rehearsal disguised as a meet to help coaches, swimmers, officials, families, and volunteers get the feel of a real meet. Thank you for your patience as this is the first year we are trying this and know there will be kinks along the way.

Thursday, 6/19: We will be hosting the Woodridge Warriors at home. The website has all the home meet information. Please review and plan accordingly. The pool/parking lot will open at 4:15 for set up, warm ups are at 5:15, the meet starts at 6pm. Additionally, we will have a food truck for each home meet. Food trucks are listed on the team calendar.

Meet Preparations: Swim meets can last up to four hours, and are held come rain or shine! Meets are only canceled for thunder or lightning. Temperatures can vary greatly during a meet; be prepared for all weather variations. Items to bring, or consider, as you prepare for a meet

Before & After Event Swimmer Expectations: Swimmers please check in with coaches before heading to staging and after your event finishes for tips and feedback.

Relays: Coaches will determine relay placements for all swimmers. Relay participation is earned by attending practices and meets; supporting the team goals; and exemplifying the team philosophy.

Meet Scratching: If you do have an emergency or illness and cannot attend though you have declared attending, please DM the coaches on GroupMe or email ASAP.

If your swimmer is physically ready but feeling anxious or overwhelmed, please reach out to the coaches for support. These emotions are common at all levels. We encourage you to bring your swimmer to the meet and lean on the support systems we've built. Swim friends and buddies can also be great sources of reassurance. Pre-meet nerves are normal and often improve over time with support and communication. We're proud to watch our swimmers grow—not just in the pool, but as individuals.

A Meet vs B Meet: Each week we compete twice against the same team. One meet is an A meet and ANY swimmer can swim. One meet is a B meet meaning swimmers with A times CANNOT compete. This gives a chance to make the B meets more equitable for all swimmers to compete. Most families will not know the difference between A and B meets unless it applies to them and it is intended to be that way. We want ALL swimmers to feel confident, supported, and have fun first and foremost.

    (2) Volunteers: If you are volunteering 6/17 and/or 6/19, you will receive a reminder/confirmation from participation. If there is a conflict, it is the volunteer’s responsibility to arrange for a substitute.

    (3) Optional Distance Meet 6/22: Meet info is on the calendar.

    (4) Buddies: Buddy matches and swimmer information will be ready soon, and will be posted on the website and in the pool lobby. We will help match you up in person if needed. All buddies, review matches and expectations. And huge THANK YOU to all the big buddies! This aspect of the team only works because of you.

    (5) Merch Store: Second chance to shop until June 20th
